Outline for WEEK 4

To the New York University Students:

PART 1: Review drills using Visual and Audio (30 minutes)
This week we will do our review on the "living room" picture. First
you will simply name the objects in the room (use your noun word
list) then proceed to create isolated phrases and simple sentences.

Review topics (applied to picture) are:
1- Identifying definite and indefinite nouns (while recognizing the
sun letters).
2-Use of demonstrative and presentation articles
3- Asking questions relevant to the picture (Use all three types
learnt on how to form a question: Intonation, mish kidda at the end
of a sentence, and the interrogative particles).

We will also listen again to the audio we did last week: http://www.arabiccomplete.com/mp3_player/podcast_
101_independent_pronouns.mp3

PART 2: Writing and Reading of Arabic script (30 minutes)
We will also continue to learn to write the Arabic letters. We will
review the seven letters we did last week and add on seven more.

You will learn how to attach short and long vowels onto these 14
letters. Then after writing the script you will learn how to read
these letters (i.e. consonants) with their attached vowels.

PART 3: New topic: Adjectives (15 minutes)
Please print out and bring to class (only print out for this week):
http://www.arabiccomplete.com/modules_audio_text_pics/adjectives_gender_page1_LAST.htm

After this lesson you should be moving along well. You will be ready
to learn how to recognize more forms of the simple sentences and
see the difference between the simple sentences and the phrase
(specifically the noun-adjective phrase).

See you next class!

Outline for WEEK 3

To the New York University students:

Last week was a great review because we started to apply what we have learned in the first two sessions - which is how to ask questions and point out objects in a room. I was happy to see that we were beginning to form simple sentences together (and still much more on that to come).

In this upcoming session we will finish off last week's lesson plan (which we did not complete) AND tackle a new topic all together - how to write and read Arabic script.

PART 1: Audio - (which we did not do last week). (20 minutes)

PART 2: Visual drill - (also not completed from last week).
(20 minutes)

PART 3: Writing and Reading using Arabic Text (35 minutes)

Print out the Arabic letters from here: http://www.arabiccomplete.com/modules_read_learn/index.htm

1- Short versus long vowels: shttp://www.arabiccomplete.com/modules_
audio_text_pics/vowels_long_vs_short_page1.htm

2- Let's begin to learn how to write Arabic script (the first of a series of 4 sessions).

3- Let's learn how to read what we have written (we will not be joining the letters in this 1st session to form words but instead attaching the short and long vowels to each of the letters).

4- Doubled Consonants: http://www.arabiccomplete.com/modules_audio_text_pics/consonants_doubled_page1
_LAST.htm

Please bring all printed materials from last week - you will need them.

See you soon!
