What is a compound sentence?

A compound sentence has two independent clauses joined by a conjunction.

What is an independent clause
?

An independent clause can stand alone as a sentence because it has a subject + predicate and expresses one complete thought.

Conjugations of conjunctions in MSA (classical Arabic)

Conjunctions are indeclinable.

What does this mean?

In MSA/Classical conjunctions do not carry a short vowel on the last letter of the word to reflect the grammatical relevance of the word.
