If you wish to express an event that occurred at one point in the past you use the simple past verb.

 
Here is an example of a verb conjugated in the simple past…

1- Even though the past tense suffixes (i.e. endings shown above in red) are regular the internal structure of the verb might change while conjugating it into the past tense.

Don't panic. You will acquire internal structural changes as you move forward.

2- When you learn a verb learn it in BOTH its simple past and present tense form.
