              Can you read words that are definite and indefinite?
                
        A word that is definite has the ال in front of the word. A word 
              that is indefinite has nunation at the end of the word.

Definite words		Indefinite words
اِلبِنْت il bint the girl		بِنْتْ bint 1 a girl
اِلفُسْتانْ il fustaan the dress		فُسْتان fustaan 2 a dress
اِلطَرَبِزَةْ iṭ ṭarabiiza the table		طَرَبِزَةْ ṭarabiiza 3 a table
اِلشارِعْ iŝ ŝaariç the street		شارِعْ ŝaariç 4 a street
اِلشِبّاك iŝ ŝibaak the window		شِبّاكْ ŝibaak 5 a window
اِلسِريرْ is siriir the bed		سِريرْ siriir 6 a bed

  Notice that the laam of the definite article frequently changes to take on the first letter of the following noun for only certain letters - referred to as sun letters. The sun letters are: d - ḍ - g - l - n - r - s - ṣ - sh - t - ṭ - z - ẓ. (The letters with the dots underneath them are the heavy sounds in Arabic).
